Evan Young – President
Evan Young is Executive Director and Campus Minister at United Campus Ministry (UCM), an ecumenical and interfaith campus ministry serving the Ohio University community in the beautiful southeastern Ohio town of Athens. A Unitarian Universalist with a deep commitment to building community across the faith lines that too often divide us, he has been active in campus ministry for more than fourteen years, since before his graduation in 2006 from Methodist Theological School in Ohio. In his time there he has seen UCM expand its reach and impact as a leader in interfaith work, through its association with the Interfaith Youth Core, its partnership in Ohio University’s Better Together Campaign, and its recognition nationally in the White House Interfaith and Community Service Campus Challenge. Evan is hopeful that in the face of declining denominational support for their work, campus ministry professionals can continue to find creative and inspired ways to care for, engage, challenge, and conspire to promote the spiritual growth of young people who are yearning to hear (and to speak!) a new message of hope in an often discouraging world.
