The Florida Tech Director/Chaplain is responsible for enhancing and fostering the Catholic Christian faith formation of the campus faith community through pastoral leadership and ministry. The Director/Chaplain works collaboratively with the CCM Advisory Board, the Campus Minister, and other clergy and staff, in planning, coordinating, organizing, executing and overseeing programs and activities in a academic setting.

The Assistant Dean of Students oversees the Office of Student Life at Candler School of Theology, with primary responsibility for a vibrant, healthy, and spiritually enriching community life for students who take courses on campus and online. Reports directly to the Dean, with a dotted line of responsibility to the Associate Dean of Academic Affairs, and serves as a member of the Dean's Council, as well as on various Candler and Emory University committees.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Serves as lead role in facilitating a vibrant community with ongoing activities and events to promote community life among students, staff, and faculty.
Serves as advisor to Candler Coordinating Council (C3) and works with student organizations to enhance their mission, programming, and access to Emory resources.
Enhances leadership development opportunities for students. Facilitates social and academic transition of international students into life at Candler. Assists and advises students and alumni in placement.
Plans, implements, and evaluates fall and spring new student orientation for domestic and international students. Provides activities to enhance student health and well-being as well as education about and connection to Emory University student health resources.
Oversees student conduct processes in accordance with published policies.
Collaborates with the Associate Dean of Academic Affairs, the Office of Admissions and Financial Aid, and faculty on issues related to student retention and success.
Collaborates with the Associate Dean of Worship and Music to provide resources for student spiritual and vocational formation.
Facilitates promotion, recruitment, and selection of Candler students for academic exchanges and other international study/travel opportunities.
Serves as liaison with international seminary partners to coordinate reception of international exchange students at Candler.
Oversees production of weekly community newsletter Life at Candler. Responsible for maintaining web pages related to work of the Office of Student Life.
Prepares student-focused Candler and Emory University evaluations and reports. Supervises and evaluates direct reports.
Hires and supervises student workers to facilitate work in the office. Oversees Office of Student Life budget.
Performs related duties as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Master's degree and five years of experience in student services or related experience, including in higher education and/or relevant pastoral ministry, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
Ability to comprehend, interpret, and apply policies and procedures
Excellent organizational and time-management skills
Ability to establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with individuals from diverse cultures, disciplines, and perspectives
Understanding of baccalaureate, post-baccalaureate, and terminal degree educational programs, curricula, policies, and academic support services
Knowledge of computer and related software programs including student information tracking and records management
Desire and ability to represent Candler School of Theology in a positive and professional manner

NOTE: Position tasks are generally required to be performed in-person at an Emory University location. Remote work from home day options may be granted at department discretion. Emory reserves the right to change remote work status with notice to employee.
